Anjan Bandyopadhyay, also known as Anjan Banerjee, was an Indian Bengali journalist who covered news for a number of media outlets, including TV9 Bangla, Zee 24 Ghanta, ETV Bangla, Akash Bangla, and Anandabazar Patrika. He was born on August 24, 1965. He was Alapan Bandyopadhyay's younger brother, West Bengal's Chief Secretary. He graduated from Presidency College in Kolkata with a bachelor's and master's degree in Bengali literature. In 1981, he graduated from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya in Narendrapur. He worked as a journalist for more than 33 years. He began his career by working for news organisations and networks, including Zee 24 Ghanta, Akash Bangla, ETV Bangla, and Anandabazar Patrika.
He left Zee 24 Ghanta in 2015 and started working for Anandabazar Patrika (Digital).In November 2020, he re-joined the Zee 24 Ghanta. He was also affiliated with TV9 Bangla and served as its first editor before returning to Zee 24 Ghanta. Due to COVID-19, Anjan Bandyopadhyay was hospitalized in April 2021. After many days, he made a full recovery and was released. His health started to deteriorate once more in the middle of May, and he required hospitalization once more due to a fever. He passed away at a Kolkata, India, private hospital on May 16, 2021. His mother, wife, and daughter are still alive.
