Shefali Sharma was born in Amritsar, Punjab. Very early in her age, she indulged herself into various theatre groups. Her background of being a theatre artist clearly reflects with the way she goes through about her acting. She rose to popularity by playing the role of the lead protagonist in the show “Bani- Ishq Da Kalma aired on Colors TV. It was directed by Damini Shetty and deals with the issue of those wives who are being left away by their NRI husbands. The story was mainly on the backdrop of Punjab. She played the role of an obedient Punjabi girl in the show. Her mother wants her to get married to a NRI guy Bani was very much attached to her cousin Raji despite the fact that both the family shares bitter experiences with each other.

Recently she was seen playing the lead protagonist role in Sony TV’s show Tum Aise He Rehna. played the role of male protagonist in the show. The show depicts a situation where a boy and girl falls in love with each other, but the family of the boy is not ready to accept their love as they don’t believe in the tradition of love marriages. The boy, then tries his very best to make her family understand about their feelings.

On 3rd September, 2014, Shefali Sharma tied the knot with . Varun too appeared in the serial Tum Aise he Rehna. It was on the sets of the serial that they first came across each other and subsequently, their friendship turned to marriage.
