Anup Singh

Anup Singh is a renowned film director. He was born on March 14, 1961, in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania, East Africa. The Geneva-based filmmaker was raised in a Sikh family of Punjab. He studied at Bombay University and took up literature and Philosophy and later attended the Film and TV Institute of India, Pune. He helmed films for Indian TV and became a consultant for BBC2. He also penned film reviews for the differently specialized press.

His first feature-length film entitled Ekti Nadir Naam (The Name of a River) was chosen in 30 film festivals worldwide and bagged several awards. His next film, QISSA – The Tale of a Lonely Ghost, is a critically acclaimed film, premiered at Toronto in the year 2013. QISSA has received many awards including Best Asian Film by Netpac, Best Actress Award at Abu Dhabi FF, and the Silver Gateway Award at the Mumbai FF.
