Plot

Sivagnanam’s family had been in the chairman’s post for years. Sivagnanam has two sons, Rajamanickam and Natesan. While Sivagnanam is shrewd in politics, Natesan is interested in business. Rajamanickam is the current chairman, and his popularity and his family’s hold on the chairman post irk MLA Ganesamoorthy. Ganesamoorthy and his men are anxiously waiting for an opportunity to pull down Sivagnanam’s family. After the death of his first wife, Rajamanickam marries Suryakala. Suryakala is a humble person, and she is not interested in politics. Once Rajamanickam and Suryakala were on a trip to Kodaikanal, he gets killed in an accident. Suryakala escaped from the death with some injuries. Though Sivagnanam couldn’t bear his son’s loss, he wanted the chairman position to be filled by one of his people. Whom did he choose? Which incident shook Sivagnanam? The rest of the story deals with these.

Star Performance

Vani Bhojan has done a fantastic job. Her transformation is impressive. Kalaiyarasan is as natural as ever. His bold looks and body language are admirable. Shali Nivekas’ performance is quite decent. Vela Ramamoorthy, Bhagavathi Perumal, and Sharath have done what was required of them.

Analysis

The plot is straight and understandable. The screenplay moves at a decent pace, neither too slow nor racy. The stars are picked perfectly and each one adds a good value to the position in which they are placed. Vetrivel’s cinematography is neat, and the editing is crisp. The BGM gels well with the story and elevates the intense scenes well.

Verdict

Sengalam is a gripping thriller with interesting twists. The series attracts us with the star cast first and their natural performances. It is definitely watch-worthy!
