Plot

The scene opens with Mythili crying angry tears and randomly throwing plates and photo frames. Then she takes out a doll house and sets it on crackers outside her house. Then the scene shifts to a flashback, she is in one of her students Annie, who is about eight. They just finished building a doll house, and Annie gifted the doll house to Mythili because she considered her as her best friend. Annie lives only with her dad, Sebastian as her mother died two years ago. Mr. Sebastian was impressed with Mythili as her mother’s death had a significant impact on Annie and was not used to socialize with anyone at school. But things changed when Mythili started attending Annie. That day, Sebastian called Annie and requested her to meet in a café to talk about something important. On meeting, Sebastian proposes to her for marriage because he thinks that Mythili will be a good mother for Annie, and not only that Sebastian also starts liking her for her encouraging, kind and helpful nature. Mythili demands some time for the proposal to think and reply. She was considering the proposal positively until her mother interrupted and scolded her on going to Annie’s house, her mother didn’t like when Mythili went there because Annie belonged to a Christian family and his father was a widow, so, the neighbour talked about Mythili which her mother disliked. Seeing her mother’s behaviour, she thinks over the proposal throughout the night. Will she deny the proposal? The rest of the movie portrays Mythili’s life, where she faces a mysterious man whom she is married to.

Star Performance

Amit Bhargav portrays the amazing character of Sanjay, a mysterious man with uncertain reactions. The realistic character of Mythili by Shruti Ramachandran also cannot remain unseen by the viewers, Surely the cast is well chosen and adds depth to the respective roles. However, the direction and the quality of production could have been better, which affected the experience of watching it.

Analysis

A couple of episodes into Dollhouse Diaries is enough to drive your curiosity to the edge. The series is well-written and also available in Hindi with English subtitles. However the series lacks to provide quality viewing experience as the production and set seem like low quality, and the dialogues also could have been better, unlike the typical ones.  But the storyline is interesting enough to keep you gripping throughout the series.

Verdict

Dollhouse Diaries is an average web series to watch if you are in the mood for a mystery thriller. If you can avoid picture quality then it can turn out to be a good watch.
