Naalaiya Iyakkunar is a popular Indian reality show in the Tamil language. The show selects short films made by five young and talented filmmakers, who have just started. The show then screens one short film per episode and allows the judges to look at it objectively to decide whether it is any good. At last, after all the films have been screened, popular filmmakers are invited to judge and select the winner for the show. The filmmaker whose film gets selected is given a rare chance to learn filmmaking from the best of the best and polish his or her talent. The show features on the popular Tamil language satellite television channel that was launched in 2007 and has since become quite famous for its entertaining shows that are watched widely by Tamil speaking natives.
