The show starts where Lord Shiva's third eye opens and with a miracle six babies takes birth in Saravana River. All six babies became one called Murugan. Six women named Karthigai Pengal, find the baby and brings him home, where they teach him Asthras and Shastras. Later on, Goddess Parvati unites with her son, Murugan. After that, all 6 Karthigai women were made Krithigai Stars, blessed by Murugan.

The show also shows how Lord Murugan fights for fruit with his brother, Lord Ganesha. When Murugan is out of home, after his fight with his brother, Avvayar, a saint cum poet, brings him home, with her beautiful explanations and finally, the family is united.

Murugan was created from the six sparks coming out of Shiva's third eye. Karthigai Women brought up Murugan as six children. They taught him Asthras and Shastras to him. Later on, Goddess Parvati became aware of it and joined the six children and that's how Murugan came to known as Arumugam. Later these six Karthigai Women were honored and became the Krithigai Nakshatrams.

During the first episode, Narada brought a Gnanapazham or Fruit of Knowledge and conducted a competition between Murugan and Ganesha. In this competition, one who goes around the Earth 3 times first would win the competition. Murugan started his journey while Ganesha didn't start. He started to revolve around his parents Shiva and Parvati 3 times (As circulating them is equal to go around the earth). After Murugan finished the contest and returned to get the prize, he was disappointed with what Ganesha did. He was very furious at him and his parents. So he left Kailayam to find a place for himself to live with peace, happiness and he headed towards the south – Tamil Nadu. He then found a place for himself, which is now named, Palani.

To Murugan to return to Kailayam, Shiva sent Avvaiyar Paati to convince him. And when Murugan saw Avvaiyar, he tested her by asking her some questions. When she asked about him and his problems, Murugan said everything that happened. So, Avvaiyar advised Murugan to return back home. He then got convinced and realized his mistake and then returned to his home.

Slowly, Murugan became an adult. He was a good fighter capable of fighting with Asuras. He sought the blessings of his parents, Parvati and Shiva. He moved towards Mayapuri and invited Surapadma. There was a fight between him and Tarakasuran, in which he killed him. Unable to bear his brother's death, Surapadma sent Kavundasuran to confront Murugan. Other Devas were worried about their victory. They pleaded with Shiva for help. Shiva called Veerabhadra to help Murugan in the war. Veerbhadra requested Surapadman to avoid the war. But Surapadman refused his request as a result the battle continued. On the last day of battle, Murugan with the help of Devas and Veerabhadra killed Surapadman.
