This documentary genre show exhibits the elephants of Anakkotta and their lives in captivity. The strong connection between the Malayali people, their temples, and elephants is well known. Anakkotta means Elephant Fort. It is a place two kilometres from the temple of Guruvayoor. The temple is in the Thrissur district of Kerela. Anakkotta (initially named Punnathurkotta) was a palace. Now the palace grounds serve as the home of the temple elephants. This elephant sanctuary is one of the most visited places in Kerela. Kannante Aanakal is a show that is purely for educational purposes. It offers a glimpse into the lives of the elephants and their interactions with their mahouts.
