Velutha Katrina was a Malayalam television series aired on Kairali TV in 2006. The serial was telecasted in the name of Kanalpoovu during the first lockdown. It featured actress Sheela in the role of Katrina. The character is an adaptation of the 1971 classic movie of the same name.  In the film, the character is a woman who faces caste discrimination. However, the TV serial was not a continuation or spin-off of the original movie. The makers reused the popular character name for the viewers. With the reintroduction of Katrina, the show attracted a vast audience.
