Thalolam is a drama show which came on the channel Asianet. The series is a Malayalam language one which came on every weekday between Monday and Friday in the time slot of 9:00 PM. The story of the serial revolves around the lives of two families who live in the same residential colony. It follows them on their journey as they face a variety of challenges in life. It deals with issues about the families themselves as well as those from the world outside as they try to stay afloat and go about their lives.

Thalolam has gotten directed by the renowned Balu Kiriyat, who has directed many acclaimed films in the Malayalam film industry. He has numerous accolades against his name including that of being a lyricist, a screenwriter in addition to being a director. His work got featured in many acclaimed films over the years. Not just that, he has penned lyrics for over fifty films in the Malayalam language apart from directing sixteen movies. He also served a stint as the general secretary in MACTA, which stands for the Malayalam Cine Technicians Association in the year 2012. He currently serves as the member secretary of the Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan.

Thalolam boasts of a brilliant star cast including some of the most experienced names in the industry including the likes of Sukumari, Shiju, Boban Aalamoodan, Manjari as well as Sajita Beti. Sukumari has made her mark over the years with her work in both Malayalam as well as Tamil films. Her tryst with acting began at the young age of ten years old. She left her home at an early age in order to study dance from her aunt living in Chennai. Saraswathi Amma, her aunt, trained her alongside her daughters Lalitha, Ragini, and Padmini.

These three ladies later went on to find fame themselves and came to get known as the Travancore Sisters. Under her aunt’s tutelage, she learned various forms of dance. Her mastery over forms such as the Kerala Natanam, Bharatanatyam, Kathakali, and much more was without parallel. Her career and achievements throughout her life propelled her to the top of the industry. Her work got recognized at the national level and got conferred with the Padma Shri award, for the contributions she made towards art, by the Indian Government in 2003. Not only that but she even went on to win the National Award following her acting in the acclaimed Tamil movie NammaGramam in the year 2010.
