Malayalam Tv Serial Sasneham - Asianet

Sasneham was a serial that was directed by Dr. Shaiju Sukesh and produced by Dr. Shaju Sham. The soap opera was released on 8th June 2021 and continued up until 25th March 2023 with a total of one season constituting 559 episodes each with a running time of 20-22 minutes approximately. The serial was telecasted on Asianet and was originally created in Malayalam. The story begins with showing two characters named Indira and Balachandran. These two people are introduced as past lovers who find each other in an old age home after being neglected by their own families.

The episodes following this start to unfold the past and we see Indira as a mother who has two children named Manu and Mini. Indira decides to live with her daughter following the death of her own husband. She also gives her land in the name of Manu and his wife Priya. Priya is shown to be a cunning woman with no morals whatsoever. However, Mini decides to move to the USA with her own family for a better career and Indira is forced to live with her son at his home. Priya doesn't take this situation too well and soon begins to emotionally torment Indira. She finds no solace because Manu is a puppet for Priya and doesn't help Indira. He instead supports his wife and takes her side.

Priya does everything to get rid of Indira as she feels like Indira is a burden for the family. However, Indira accepts the torment silently and decides to keep quiet for her son and grandkids who love her unconditionally. The story on the other hand shows Balan who has a daughter named Meera. Being married to a ruthless and arrogant advocate Raghu, Meera is forced to act harshly towards her own father even though she is kind and loves him. Raghu taunts and insults Meera and her father at every opportunity he can get. Even Balan's grandson Sudhi ridicules Balan. This makes Balan unhappy.

The story now begins to show both the lives of Indira and Balan as they keep dealing with hardships in their families. Priya tries everything to get rid of Indira even as far as going to attempt to kill her by maintaining a false facade of gentleness and eventually pushing Indira into the temple pond attempting to drown her. Her attempt fails considering Indira gets rescued by two people named Shankarnarayanan known as Shanku and his childhood sweetheart named Nandha. Shanku was brought up at a destitute home for old people at Thanal because he was an orphan and together they became the saviours of Indira. On the other hand, a mutual friend of both Indira and Balan finds Balan and immediately grows fond of him. This friend named Zachariah is a millionaire now but has no children of his own.

Zachariah turns out to be a consolation for Balan and asks him about his long lost lover and reminiscences past memories. Balan then reveals that he still remembers his past long-lost love and wishes to meet her someday. But he also admits that he doesn't know where she is right now. Zachariah gets the lover's phone number via sources and it is revealed to be none other than Indira. Balan is happy and soon Indira and Balan both start communicating again and decide to meet up. They form a beautiful friendship and eventually meet up at a restaurant with the help of Zachariah. 

However, they both hide their imperfections and maintain a facade of wealth and happiness. Their friendship is eventually frowned upon by both their families and even though they deny having an affair both Priya and Raghu decide to oppose their relationship and insult them for meeting up or even communicating with each other. Even Manu opposes and hates their development. Disheartened and fed up with the torture Indira decides to go to Thanal and start living there in the destitute home. Coincidentally, Balan also joins her after being fed up with Raghu. After realizing their situation and the fact that they are in the same boat, both of them decide to be honest with each other henceforth, and eventually form a strong friendship.

After Zachariah dies, an agent turns up and gives a document stating the distribution of his assets worth 150 crores to both Indira and Balan on the condition that they get married. Hearing the condition and the value of the assets both Priya and Raghu decide to bring back Indira and Balan. Meera and Manu strongly oppose the situation but they pay no heed. They both try to get Indira and Balan to marry each other but their attempts are in vain as both refuse stating the fact that marriage is a sacred bond and should not be used for monetary benefits solely.

Both the families are in dire need of money and when both Balan and Indira refuse to marry Priya gets upset and angry at Indira. She eventually demands Indira to go back at Thanal but this time Manu disagrees with her and refuses to let his mother go away again. Angered, Priya decides to file a lawsuit proclaiming fake assault charges against Manu which eventually leads him to lose his job and house. Priya tries to get custody over the kids but the kids refuse to move in with her. Manu decides to leave everything behind and go on a pilgrimage after being frustrated at everyone and everything. Indira, now with the custody of her grandkids struggles to maintain the family and it immensely pleases Priya.

However, Balan decides to help her out and together they open a food restaurant and soon it gains fame making their economic condition a bit stable. Priya gets jealous and hatches out a plan to make the business fail by setting up her own branch taking the fame and spotlight away from Indira and Balan. However, that fails as well when it is revealed to society that Priya's father is a murderer, and eventually people dislike her. Angered yet again, she decides to poison the food at the restaurant set up by Indira which leads to many people getting sick and a lawsuit being filed against Indira. After they get arrested, the truth eventually comes out and when Priya tries to file an anticipatory bail it gets rejected by the court implying that Priya is in big trouble for all her misdeeds.
