Maharani is a Kannada serial broadcasted on Star Suvarna. It went on air on October 29 at 8.30 pm from Monday to Saturday and ran for 1 season comprising 90 episodes. The serial entertained the viewers with a rare story of a grandmother and granddaughter's bittersweet relationship. The channel had launched a campaign called 'Neeva Maharani' in search of a new face for the lead heroine.
Thousands of talents were screen-tested by the Maharani Kantar across Karnataka, Bangalore, Mysore, and Gulbarga. Finally, Mangaluru girl Rashmitha Chengappa bagged the lead role. In her debut serial, she plays a village girl who takes care of her siblings. The plot takes a twist when a rich grandmother, in search of her granddaughter, crosses paths with her.
