Damini Kanwal Shetty was interested in acting since her childhood and started acting in plays at a very young age. She joined a theater group named ' Drikshravan' and acted in some plays for the group under the direction of Jairoop Jivan. In a few years the group was dissolved and she joined 'Yatri' group of
Om Katare
. She did many plays for Yatri but her performance in Bhaag Chalein and Woh Tum Hi Ho were noted and she was established as an actor in professional theater in Mumbai. Some of her plays were also directed by Shekhar Suman.
Later on in life, she got married to raj Shetty, producer and started her own production house. Her acting had to be shelved for the time being when she gave birth to his daughter. She being a creative could not hold back for long and started involving herself in backstage activities like production and writing. She was equally successful in this role as well and became a regular writer for her production house.
She produced the serial 'Bani-Kalma Ishq Da' for Colors Channel and she staged a comeback as an actor in this serial when she appeared as Anuradha, a senior NGO Officer who changes the life of female protagonist, Bani. The role was a small one but it drove the story and she received high appreciation for her performance in the serial.
She is really praiseworthy in view of the fact that she can manage all her roles as a producer, creative director, story teller and actor with equal levels of efficiency along with maintaining her family and her eleven year old daughter.
