Bannada Buguri was launched in the year 2012. The show was aired on week days, from Monday to Friday at 10:00 p.m. Bannada Buguri is a serial in the drama genre.

The plot of the show revolves around two sisters, Arathi and Akanksha. Arathi and Akanksha are two young girls of the same family. Arathi is the elder sister, while Akanksha is the younger one. The two sisters have a lot of love for each other. However, as they grow up and start living their own lives, they realize that their natures and beliefs are completely contrasting and opposite. Arathi, the elder sister, believes in freedom. She likes living her life on her own terms, not having to give any explanations to anyone. She loves to live a carefree and outrageous life without thinking of what anyone might think.

Younger sister, Akanksha, on the other hand, values discipline and good ethics. She is very obedient to her elders by nature and listens to what is being told. She knows how to respect others and believes that good principles take a person a long way. She lives a very controlled life and believes strictly in her set of values. The story initially moves smoothly with both the sisters exploring their life and values. Soon, their values transverse and things start becoming bad. The value system of both the sisters starts clashing and starts creating a rift in the family.

Arathi tends to start falling into petty troubles due to her beliefs. Her family and her younger sister try to convince her to take a more subdued approach towards life, but Arathi, as expected, does not listen to them. The two sisters start going against each other and take their differences to a whole new level where the entire family starts getting affected. Soon Akanksha and Arathi are married away to different families. The sisters still keep in touch, but still cannot make peace with each other.

The sisters are still at war, and somehow, their lives keep clashing with each other. The family starts falling apart, and things get worse with the entry of Sindu in Akanksha’s house, who is a relative of her husband. How will the plot take a twist? What role does this new character play in making things worse for Arathi, Akanksha and their respective families? Will the sisters ever reconcile with each other? The story is filled with many such questions, twists, and turns which all get answered in the due course of the show. The show has a set of very talented actors playing the main and supporting roles. The title track of the show, ‘Ee Bhoomi Bannada Buguri,' sung by the infamous S.P. Balasubramanyam, has been taken from an old Kannada movie. The song had yet again, created the same buzz amongst the audience during the show like it had created when it first came in the movie.
