The series premiered on 25^th April and continued up until 6^th May 2022 with a total of one season consisting of 11 episodes. The series is made as a prequel to the television serial named Anupamaa. The story for ‘Anupama: Namaste America’ is set 17 years prior in 2005, just ten years after Anupama gets married to Vanraj. Anupama Shah is shown to be a young Gujarati housewife who is married to Vanraj and is the mother of two children named Paritosh and Samar. She has a talent for dancing, Kathak in particular and so does her son Samar. Her passion for dancing irks Vanraj and his mother considering that they believe that such kind of habits should not be inhibited by a mere housewife.

However, her passion for dance is supported and loved by her father-in-law and her grandmother-in-law. Moti Baa always encourages her to chase her passion for dancing ignoring the rest of the family. When Vanraj’s manager invites him along with his wife to an office party he initially refuses to bring Anupama along with him because he believes that a housewife should not go out of the house. In reality, he is ashamed and believes that Anupama is nothing more than a housewife who should be kept as a domesticated animal and nothing more. However, Moti Baa convinces him to take Anupama along with him.

When Anupama arrives at the office party everyone becomes stunned by her simplicity and gets mesmerized by her beauty, grace, and her love for dance. Her performance is loved by everyone, especially by the manager and his wife. They love Anupama’s performance so much that the manager’s wife decides to extend an offer to her to participate in international cultural activities where Anupama can represent the culture via her dance and chase her passion and her dreams. She manages to convince and teach Anupama that being a housewife is not the end of her dreams and she should follow her passion to become a successful and self-established woman. However, she doesn’t realize that Vanraj is totally against such an offer.

When Vanraj gets to know about the offer and the audition he does everything in his power to sabotage the whole idea. He along with his mother plan and scheme continuously so that Anupama doesn’t get the opportunity to go to USA to achieve her dreams. Things get even more complicated when Vanraj’s ex Ritika comes into the picture and their past is revealed. It is shown that they both used to be madly in love with each other while they were in college but they broke up when Ritika decided to follow her dreams and eventually got married to Ravi. Meanwhile, Vanraj got married to Anupama.

When they meet again Ritika admits that she still hasn’t forgotten Vanraj and wishes for them to be together again. She advises divorce for both parties involved so that they can be together. However, Vanraj refuses to go back to her. Meanwhile, to sabotage Anupama’s dreams without letting her know about them, he hatches a plan alongside his mother to make Anupama emotionally attached to such an extent that she would forget about going to foreign. He introduces Ritika to his family as a friend and in order to make Ritika jealous he shows off his wife and praises Anupama. He maintains a facade of sweet romance for his wife and eventually gets her pregnant.

Ritika becomes obsessed with Vanraj and things take a turn when Vanraj finds himself torn between both the women. His family reminds him about Anupama and his two kids and that helps to ground him. Anupama’s pregnancy and the combined efforts of Vanraj and his mother play a critical role in her plans to chase her dreams. When she finally finds out that everything was planned to sabotage her dreams she feels betrayed and it is too late to do anything about it.

This serial tells the story of Anupama and her dreams before she became the Anupama shown in the serial named ‘Anupama'. This serial revolves around the concept of women empowerment and what struggles they face in a male-dominated society. This story also speaks about the bond between a mother and her kids and how trust and support are the building pillars of a relationship. It speaks of a betrayal and how it changes a person from the very core.
