Sarita Joshi, the proud recipient of the Sangeet Natak Academy Award for acting in Gujarati, is a popular theater and television actress. She is most popular for her role as Godavari Thakkar in the Star Plus show Baa Bahoo Aur Baby.
Born in 1941 in Pune, Maharashtra Sarita Joshi developed an interest in acting at an early age and by the age of seven she was a member of the New Laxmikant Company of Baroda. A famous member of various theatres across Maharashtra, she went on to act in the Indian National Theater. She has acted in over 150 plays in Marathi and Gujarati, several of them phenomenal successes, such as Balwant Ni Baby, which ran up to 500 shows. She made her television debut in 1980’s in the TV show Titliyan directed by

, followed by Hasratein, Kuch Kook Hota Hai, the most popular being the show Baa Bahoo Aur Baby. Her Bollywood roles include Guru, as Abhishek Bachchan’s mother, Dasvidaniya, Gangoobai and Bollywood Beats.
Currently she is acting in the Star Plus show Chand Chupa Badal Mein, where she plays the role of a caring grandmother. Though she appears in many tele serials and films, her major love remains theater. Nothing exceeds the joy of acting in a theater, she says and she still remains an active participant in many theaters.
She is married to director Praveen Joshi, whom she met in the Indian National theater. She has two daughters Ketki Devi and
