TV series ‘Meera’ is the story of Meerabai, a devout follower of Lord Krishna. She was a Rajput princess born in Rajasthan. Right from her childhood, she was a devotee of Lord Krishna. Her lord was only Krishna and for whom she developed in her heart the most intense love and devotion. She got married to the idol of Lord Krishna in her childhood and thus the serial is a biopic on this devotee. It was aired on NDTV Imagine from July 27, 2009, till January 29, 2010, was produced by Sagar Pictures. Aashika Bhatia played the role of young (child) Meera and while Aditi Sajwan had portrayed the older Meera. Meera was the daughter of Veer Kunwari and Ratan Singh. Her mother had died when she was just ten years old. Gauri Harmit Kaur played Meera's mother role, and Kunal Bakshi played the role of Ratan Singh, Meera's father. Her childhood began when she saw a bride passing through her home.
Once, Raidasji (a great saint) comes to Meera’s home and predicts that Meera was meant for spiritual life and gives her a doll of Lord Krishna whom she could marry. When she was just 9 years old, she falls in love with the Lord. Meera truly believes that the Lord is her husband. Next comes a new chapter in life, her marriage gets fixed with Bhoj Raj, the role is played by actor Abhilin Pandey. But even then Meera remained, in mind, heart and soul, married to Lord. Meera had a childhood friend named Lalita (role played by Tara Desai) who accompanied Meera to her husband’s home after marriage.
There are a lot of troubles in Meera’s life for her association with Lord. After her husband dies, she goes on a pilgrimage to Vrindavan and Dwarka. At the end, she disappears with her Lord’s idol and her close friend Lalita too jumps in the river and puts an end to her life.
