Epic Channel showed a program called ‘Made In India’ which proved all inventions of science had its roots in India always. Be it the nuclear weapons in Mahabharata, the airplane was first invented. One calls it a fantastical concept since there has been amazing inventions and practices in India such as plastic surgery to rocketry. The first episode took us through the medical history of India.
It is said that 600 years B.C.E that Varanasi was the oldest city in the world and this town had practiced 'Sushruta,' a kind of medical surgery. Hence even today, ‘Sushruta’ is considered he father of modern medicine. The show revealed how in Banaras Hindu University, this kind of contemporary surgery is explained. The second episode had a focus on Bodhidharma, who was a Tamil monk who trained monks Shaolin Kung Fu.
Why did Bodhidharma go to China? How did he learn to fight? The third episode had a focus on Board Games( Chess) which dates back to Gupta dynasty in the 6th Century AD. Even the game of Snakes and Ladders had an Indian origin. The show had intelligently focused on the culture that virtually had the base in India but later had migrated to the foreign nation.
