The story starts with a typical Indian family. The family includes an old father, his three daughters, and a son. The three daughters are Shobha, Pooja, and Anita. Their mother died a long time ago. The father is a strict man, and everybody respects him. Shobha got married to someone that her father chose for her. She had no say in her marriage. However, she got separated from her husband after a year because they had different goals in life. Since then, she has been living a lonely life for twenty years. Anita is an ambitious girl. She is career-oriented and wants to become successful professionally. Anita has broken off her engagement two times with different men because of different views.

Anita is a logical woman. She understands that a marriage requires understanding and mutual thoughts about life. She does not want to compromise nor want her partner to do so. Her father is constantly worried about Shobha and Anita’s lives. He wants Anita to get married soon so that she does not end up like Shobha. Shobha’s business partner, Anand, is good friends with her. Anand’s wife has died a long time back. He wants to marry Shobha but fears she might reject him as she considers him just a friend. One day, the family goes to a wedding, where Pooja meets Prem. Prem instantly takes a liking to her. Prem’s elder brother, Akash, is a serious man. He dislikes the idea of marriage as he does not find a bride according to her requirements. Akash sees Anita and fancies her. However, Akash does not accept that he likes a girl. Later, Prem marries Pooja happily. Akash and Anita get married and have a tricky start to their married life. Shobha accepts Anand’s proposal to marry him. The show explores their life after their marriage. The story highlights the challenges of married life by showing three marriages on different premises.
