Skins is a British-based teenage drama created by the television writers and the well-known father-and-son duo, Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain, which telecasts on E4 channel, produced by Company Pictures. The story consists of a group of British teens who try hard to grow up, find love and happiness despite having teachers and parents who are more interested in being friends (and lovers) rather than a strict authority figure. The series started airing from January 2007 till August 2013 and had seven seasons.
The Season 7 is the final season of the series named Skins Redux. It started from 1st July 2013 and ended on 5th August 2013. This season marks the return of at least five most remarkable characters from the starting four seasons or the first two generations. The final season consists of 6 episodes divided into the stories: ‘Fire,’‘Pure’ and ‘Rise.’ In the first two episodes ‘Fire’, Effy has a dead end job of a receptionist where she embarks on a steamy affair with her wealthy boss and by chance comes across some crucial information related to a troubled deal. Effy’s roommate Naomi gives her best shot to stop her from destroying her life, but Effy remains out of contact reach until the tragedy strikes.
Mixed up in a complicated and precarious situation on one side, Effy juggles her friendship with Naomi and Emily, and they try to deal with Naomi’s cancer diagnosis. The second episode marks the end of Naomi, Effy, and Emily. The next two episodes ‘Pure’, Cassie is shown adrift, lonely and invisible in London. She attempts to deal with her family struggles, brought upon by her mother’s death in Wales. While doing this, Cassie slowly realizes that someone is following her. As she turns towards the stranger, she embarks on a strange and poignant friendship/ relationship which is born out of mutual loneliness, but she is unsure whether the relationship will survive in the real world.
While her relationship goes through extreme tests, Cassie finally finds appreciation in her modelling world. With the hope that she achieves great success, the episode marks her end. In the final two episodes ‘Rise’, Cook grabs a job where he has to deliver drugs to Manchester revelers. But he realizes he is irresistibly attracted to his employer’s girlfriend when he is asked to help her find a house. The ending episode shows how Cook’s dalliance with his employer’s girlfriend has disastrous consequences.
