Minmini Pookal is a Tamil language TV serial that aired on the channel Vijay Super. The show premiered on television from Monday to Friday for half an hour from 11:30 am to 12 pm. It is originally a Bengali serial that was dubbed into Tamil. The Bengali version aired on Star Jalsha from 28 November 2016 to 3 February 2019 for a total of 787 episodes. Minmini Pookal is the story of a brother and sister who lost their parents when they were kids. Rakhi and her elder brother Bandhan were taken in by their uncle. Their aunt treated them very badly. Bandhan did everything he could to let Rakhi have a happy life, at least. He chose to bear all adversities his aunt puts him through without letting Rakhi being subjected to them. He also supported his sister with all her school activities and worked extra hard outside to earn some money to let her sister participate in the school programmes.

A few days later, they get to know that their father had two wives and that their biological mother is still alive. Bandhan refuses to accept her as he is mad that she didn’t come for them earlier. The kids also had to go through kidnappings and abuses where one didn’t know the whereabouts of the other. They were both separated on many occasions and cried for each other. Eventually, they both decided to go to an orphanage. Rakhi and Bandhan get into an argument, and he hits her. She gets mad and goes to the orphanage alone. She is adopted by good people and grows up with them. Twelve years later, Rakhi is in college and Bandhan is into boxing. He has a nice group of friends who would do anything for him. He follows his sister around and tries to apologise to her but she doesn’t budge. He also saves her from goons and ragging. He dresses up as a joker for her birthday party just to be around her. Eventually, she warms up to him and defends him when the situation arises. She then gets married to a guy who turns out to be the bad guy. Her husband tries to illegally marry another woman, and Bandhan stops him. They sort out their differences, and they both get the respect they have always wanted from their blood relatives.
