Kannadi Pookal narrates the story of Pavithra (Nithiyia Rao) and her struggle as the child of an autistic man, Sundaram. Pavithra realises that if she gets married, she won’t be able to take care of her father, and neither can she rule out the fact that her future children could be autistic. Therefore, she is against marriage. However, Saravanan (Varman Chandra Mohan) enters her life and throws her plans astray. It forces her to rethink her decision. Saravanan assures Pavithra of her independence even after marriage so that she can take care of her father on her terms. Thus, starts a story of an ordinary woman torn between her love and her duty.Â
