Asambhav is a thriller series based on reincarnation. It is a Marathi series that premiered on 12 February 2007 and ran until 29 August 2009. It had a total of 774 episodes. It replaced ‘Vadalvaat in the 8:30 pm time slot. It became one of the popular serials of its time and was well-received by the audience. The concept of the serial is very fascinating. It was remade in languages like Bengali and Kannada. The plot of the story follows that the characters in the series remember their past and the wrongs done to them in the past. They try to make things right or avenge their deaths, which they held in the past. Adinath Shastri is the child of Madhusudan Shastri. He is the second son. He returns from the US and meets Sulekha and plans to marry her. He decides to return to the US after marriage. But due to unfortunate circumstances, Adi had an accident and was saved by Shubhra. He lives in Shubra's house and marries her.

The Shastri family is making preparations for the wedding of Adi and Sulekha. Adi arrives on the marriage day and introduces Shubhra as her wife. Everyone is shocked but finally accepts her. Shubhra and Adi live in Wada, in Vasai near Mumbai. Shubra's grandfather, Dinanath Shastri, Adi’s grandfather, says Shubra has a resemblance to his sister-in-law Parvati. He tells Shubhra that she is the reincarnation. Shubhra also starts remembering things. Then, as the story progresses, the Shastri family history is revealed, and Adi, Sulekha, is also reincarnated. The task which was incomplete in the past was to be finished after taking rebirth. Forms the basis of the storyline.
