Sulekha is a single girl child in the family. She went to the King George School in Mumbai to complete her higher secondary education. She completed her further studies from the RamnarainRuia College, Matunga in Mumbai. She started her acting career in the college days. She joined the theater group named as Natyawalay, and her first commercial play was Saatchya Aat Gharat. Her second theater act was Mahasagar.
