The serial ‘Vaidehi-Ek aur agni pareeksha’ or in short ‘Vaidehi’ is the story of a young middle class girl. She gets a marriage proposal from a rich family, Jaisinghs. With the advice of family she accepts the proposal. But at the same time she is worried to marry Aryavardhan because of their social status and difference in behavior. However, marriage between Vaidehi and Aryavardhan materializes and her fear comes true. She discovers the dark secrets of Jaisinghs and her life becomes a nightmare. She initially tolerates Aryavardhan’s annoying behavior because she loves him. But later she fights for her rights. Adding life to the story is the suspense plot, thrilling sequences and bit romance. Aroona Irani, the producer of the serial, claimed that Vaidehi has a social message to its viewers on living the life to the fullest and following dreams. The story revolves around Vaidehi fighting her battle against her husband and his family to unveil their bad deeds.

Vaidehi was premiered on Sony TV on the 5th of June year 2006. The show was initially aired on every Monday Later on the show move to half an hour slot from Monday to Thursday at 9:30 PM IST. In effect, the show faced a tough competition from Star Plus' popular mega serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. In fact, the revamping Vaidehi from weekly to daily slot could not withstand the competition. The unconventional story failed to pull off its viewers and the serial abruptly ended on the 28th of December year 2006.


1. Pallavi Kulkarni

Pallavi Kulkarni is an Indian TV actress and model born on 15 June 1982. She was featured in many TV serials during 2000s. She became popular with a headstrong character Karishma in Kehta Hai Dil on Star Plus in 2003. Vaidehi was her second serial on Sony TV under Aruna Irani’s production house. She also played the character of Nikki Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat. She was also featured in Hindi movie Kranti. She married Mihir Nerurkar and is currently living in New York.

2. Aruna Irani

Aruna Irani is a Indian actress and director. She was born on 3 May 1952 and acted in more than 300 films mostly in supporting roles. She was featured in many songs which hit the records the industry Her films have included Jahanara in 1964, Farz and Upkar in 1967, Aaya Sawan Jhoomke in1969, Caravan in 1971, Garam Masala and Bombay To Goa in 1972, Bobby and Do Phool in 1973, Fakira in 1976, Sargam in 1979, Lover Story and Rocky in 1981. She acted with Mehmood Ali in aulad, Humjoli and Naya Zamana. She also acted in Marathi movies like Changu Mangu, Ek Gadi Baki Anadi, Lapwa Chapvi and Bol Baby Bol. She moved to acting in TV serials and also directing and producing the TV serials. Her produced popular serials include Mehndi Tere Naam Ki, Rabba Ishq Na Hove, Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, and many more. She won Filmfare twice for best supporting role, for Beta in 1993 and Pet Pyaar Aur Paap in 1985. She received Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.

3. Sachin Sharma

Sachin Sharma a TV actor and become popular with his character as Krishna in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. He was born on 03 November. He studied graduation in management from Symbiosis in distance mode. He started his careers as news anchor and appeared as reported on Zee News and Sahara before moving to Balaji serial. For Balaji Production house he worked for Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and K Street Pali Hill. His serials list include Dil Kya Chahta Hai as Nitin, Tumhari Disha, Saat Phere. He appeared in a cameo role in C.I.D. He appeared in a negative role in Vaidehi-Ek Aur Agni Pareeksha. He has been Director of the show. After acting in TV serials, he tried as a Director for many movies. He made his debut as director withModel Professor, American reality talent hunt show. He was Assistant Director for Krazzy 4 and worked as 3rd director for Krissh. He is the writer and executive producer for English Butler Masala Chai in 2010.

4. Snigdha Akolkar

Snigdha Akolkar is an actress and model has appeared in many Hindi as well Marathi serials. She played the lead character in Hare Kaanch ki Choodiyaan as Shyamlee and acted as Janki in Vaidehi. Later she moved to Tamil film industry. She became famous for a small character in Anjathe. Her other movies includes Rajadhi Raja where she played a lead character, as Anjali in Nandalala and won Vijay Award for best supporting actress. In 2011, she appeared in Hindi movie Love U-Mir. Kalajaar.

5. Kiran Kumar

Kiran Kumar is an actor who worked on Hindi, Rajasthani and Gujarati movies. He studied in boarding School. He joined Film and Television Institute of India in Pune where he was known as Dipak Dar. He played lead roles in many Guajarati movies. He is the bollywood actor Jeevan. He married to Sushma Verma, Gujarati actress, and has two children son Shaurya and daughter Srishti.

Kumar starred his career in movies with Do Boond Pani in 1971. He made his debut in Gujarati movies with The Bachhan of Gujarati Cinema. And made his comeback in Hindi movies with Khudgarz. He performed negatives roles in Tezaab and Khuda Gawah. He is one of the first movie actor to move into TV industry and started TV series with Ghutan. Following that he appeared in many TV series like Zindagi, Sahil,Manzil, Katha Sagar, Chhajje Chajje Ka Pyar. Recently he appeared in movies like Bobby Jasoos. He is a member of CINTAA and assisted for the Star CINTAA superstars ka jalwa, which was an event perferomed by movies and TV actors to raise funds for CINTAA.
