It is a popular American drama which is broadcasted in the SHOWTIME television channel. The pilot episode was aired 1st of October 2006 and the finale on 22nd September 2013. It is an 8 seasons series with a high level of turning events. Dexter Morgan who works in the Miami Metro Police Department as a blood pattern analysts have a secret second life. There is a thin line in being a sociopath and a psychopath. Being a sociopath is being awkward in social gatherings or meetings. Bluntly, the fear of socializing is the main problem of a sociopath. But in the case of a psychopath, the case is different.

One can easily mark a sociopath individual but it is a bit difficult to identify a psychopath as they have a dual life to be dealt with. Similarly, in this case of Dexter Morgan, he has witnessed his mother being murdered in cold blood, back when he was a child. After witnessing such a violent incident, as a child that had created a great impact on the mind. He certainly enjoys blood and murder. His adoptive father Henry recognizes his son’s flaws and problems he is dealing with. Thus, created certain pathways that led Dexter being a serial killer with a “code”. His father Henry (a homicide detective) realized the potential serial killer instinct and failing to curb that he decided to make him focus and provided him with a code.

The code being Dexter working as a vigilante and murdering only those who have a criminal tendency and obstructing the justice provided by the system. Being a blood sample analyst in the Police Department it is easy for him to gather and process the information and Henry helps clean up the mess. And to avoid being acknowledged and further arrest, Dexter needs to abide with the “The Code of Harry”. He has a sister named Debra of his adoptive parents who have no idea about Dexter’s secret. And during the last stage of Henry, he asked him to take care of Debra. The first season revolves around an Ice Truck killer and tempted Dexter personally.

But with the seizure of Debra, Dexter had no choice but to kill him. Season two shows how the bodies which Dexter use to dump using his boats are discovered and high lightened the bay harbor butcher. Desperately trying to cover up his deeds, he falls in love with a girl. But finally Dexter found a way by framing a dead member of the department only as of the Butcher. In season three we could see Rita being pregnant. And when Dexter, was about to kill the target he realizes of someone else presence as well. He had to kill that person and later found out that he is related to a public official. Someone discovers the big secret of Dexter and stating pressurizing him to kill on his order. Dexter married Rita.

In season 4 a trinity killer is shown and the consumption feeling of Dexter from the role of the husband as well as father. A major character is dead at the end of the season. In season 5 dexter helps a victim in taking revenge and started romanticizing about her. After all the work is done she now needs to get away from the relationship and all. Debra came to know about the truth but realizes it is in good faith and let them go away. Season 6 shows a killer who connects his every kill to religion and Debra seeing Dexter killing the Doomsday killer. Season 7 shows how Dexter accepts his identity in front of Debra. Someone opens up “The Bay Harbor Butcher” case.

It was also shown how Debra is forced upon killing an innocent to save the big secret. In the final season of Dexter shows the past connection of Dexter with the brain surgeon. The story also unfolds how dexter is in love with someone and can now feel emotions and does not have a feeling to kill anymore. The realization which he has about wrecking everyone’s life whoever gets close to him, hits him bad.
