Plot
Aravind is a high school teacher in a small town. As he faces some hormonal changes, he starts taking hormone therapy. Soon, he embraces his identity as a female named Bhanu, and in this process, his friend Haritha helps him. When his family was seeking a bride for him, his transition gave them a huge shock. Soon, he hears the same issue with one of the students, Karthik. Aravind, aka Bhanu, helps Karthik overcome his trouble. But, he was blamed for Karthik’s transition. What happened next? Was Aravind, aka Bhanu, able to manage this situation? The rest of the story speaks about the journey of Bhanu.
Star Performance
Samyuktha’s performance is extraordinary. Her transition from Aravind to Bhanu is well-performed. As the character is from her personal experiences, it added extra energy to her and she showcased the role well. The emotional scenes are executed well. The rest of the stars delivered what was required of them.
Analysis
The story may appear simple, but the performances showcase the efforts involved. The stars are picked rightly. The director herself played the lead character, and gave it a life. The film showcases the right reflection of the society, when a person changes his/her gender identity. As Samyuktha has personal experience in this, she gelled well in the character and showcases Aravind/Bhanu’s role so well. The subplots are okay, but in a particular scene we feel that it should have been shown naturally rather than too bold, which looked a bit artificial. The cinematography is simple. No special shots were made. As the camera is fixed in a place and showcases only the story, the audience can concentrate more on the characters than the surroundings. The music and editing are okay.
