Appavi Kateri is a Tamil horror cum comedy film; it got a release under the banner of Gopikaa movie makers. Ali Akbar is the successful director; this is his first attempt at making on the “Tamil” language. The theme seems catchy as well as innovative. A blend of comedy, thriller and horror are quite new. The story suits the Tamil audience, and it fascinates them too. Kozhikode is the place where this movie is shot.

Plot: This is a story which defines the life of a Vampire, who does have a heart. The genre may add “horror” to it, but this movie has more humor than horror in it. Rafeeq, who is a debutant actor, is playing the role of a Vampire, who despises hurting anybody, even though he requires drinking blood for his mere survival. Humor comes to play when he makes a pact with a bunch of thieves who to complete their robbery need to steal blood for the Vampire. Vijay and Devan are renowned actors and for them, this film casts many new actors.

The role of a priest is what Vijay is playing, with a lot of hilarious scenes. Devan, on the other hand, is attempting to play a doctor who is critically analyzing & who is doing a full comprehensive research on Vampires. A meaningful horror film is what this comes out to be. Watch the movie to fetch more details.

Analysis: The direction which is done by Ali Akbar is commendable. He has made many films, and he has worked for ten years in Chennai now. He feels quite comfortable with the language thus takes his chance on the same. He has directed films like Mukhamudra and Junior Mandrake. Also, the script is penned down by Ali Akbar himself. The Producer of the movie is C.A Gopakumar. The Cinematography is done right by Jagadeesh. Amudham has written the lyrics of the songs, and Kumar Vishal has done the tuning of the same. A good bucket of entertainment is what we can term this as.

Star Performances: Rafeeq has started his career with this well-populated film, his acting skills can be appreciated, but they do need a little polishing. His role of a Vampire is played in an exotic manner by him. He indeed does justice to the role. Thalaivasal Vijay surely adds humor to the movie and the movie would have been incomplete without him, he is an experienced actor with remarkable skills.

What’s there? 1. This movie has Horror, which doesn’t scare you but makes you laugh. 2. It delivers a lot of Entertainment to the audience.

What’s not there? 1. The story loses its track after a bit. 2. Thriller is missing in the movie.

Verdict: A great amalgamation of various genres, watch the film to see what it has in store for you.
