Plot

Ray Mathews is a pianist, and he has a girlfriend, Anna. Ray pretends to be a visually challenged person, to improve his skills. Anna helps Ray get public attention by providing him an opportunity to showcase his skills at a party. Famous yesteryear actor Udaykumar, who came to the party, was impressed with Ray’s skills and offered to perform at his wedding anniversary. As invited, Ray gets into the house of the actor and starts performing music. Udaykumar’s wife Simi didn’t know that Ray pretends to be visually challenged. What Ray saw there and how did he get into trouble form the rest of the story.

Star Performance

Acting in varieties of genres is just having an ice-cream cake for Prithviraj. He melted everyone with his natural performance. Mamta Mohandas is the next attraction of the film. She has done a fantastic job that was excellently done by “ Tabu Tabu is a wonderful gift to the Indian cinema. She >> Read More... ” in the original version. Shankar had given a decent performance. Ananya and Raashi Khanna are present in the film but didn’t get much to showcase their talent. Yet, they are good in the given roles.

Analysis

Not all remake films are good. Mollywood had seen a lot of remakes from Hollywood, Bollywood, and Tollywood. This Bollywood remake has some sequences designed to suit the Malayalam sensibilities. The stars were chosen well and given the right roles, and they did justice to the selection. The BGM and cinematography are good. As the director is the cinematographer, he needn’t explain what he feels but execute it himself.

What’s There?

• Prithviraj and Mamta have done a perfect job
• The cinematography and BGM are neat
• The film is technically sound

What’s Not There?

• Certain scenes could have been shot better

Verdict

With a good script and performers, the director managed to give the audience a decent thriller. Although Bhramam is not a repeated-watch movie, it is definitely watchable once!
