Plot
‘Rangasamudra’ title is based on a vintage village in Karnataka where the story of this movie takes place. The story centers on the relationship of Mahalinga, a resilient grandson of a talented folk artist, Chanappa. When a wealthy and arrogant villager humiliates and disrespects Chanappa, Mahalinga vows to achieve his grandfather’s desire to have a car and to take him on a drive worth remembering. Will Mahalinga be successful in achieving this? The film discovers the challenges and journey of this Grandfather- Grandson duo.
Star Performances
Ugramm Manju did a decent job in the movie. Divya Gowda as an English language teacher looks glamorous in this movie. As we talk about the acting performances in the film, one can hardly neglect the outstanding portrayal by Rangayana Raghu. Whenever he appeared on the screen, he ate the whole scene and left no crumbs. His range and performance in the emotional scenes of this movie can make anyone cry. Sampath Raj, playing a reformed moneylender, did a convincing job. Raghvendra also did a tremendous and impactful job. All of the child actors performed as per the requirements of the story.
Analysis
The story of ‘Rangasamudra’ focuses on the bond between a grandfather and his pampered grandson. When a wealthy and egoistic moneylender humiliates Chinaya; his grandson vows to redeem his grandfather’s lost esteem. In oder to accomplish his task, Goobe(grandson) decides to buy a car as it is considered a symbol of affluence in rural parts of the country. This movie is based on an emotionally rich storyline but the screenplay of this film couldn’t justify the same. As far as the acting performances in the movie are concerned, Goobe did a great job while playing a pampered and notorious kid. Rangayana is the powerhouse of emotions in this movie. He swayed away the audience with his acting brilliance. Raghuvendra added a charm to the movie. Sampath did a convincing job, while the rest of the cast supported the storyline with their acting. The director while depicting a lovely story also imparts life lessons of humanity and morality through this movie. He tried to add too many layers to the story of the movie instead of focusing on the main theme which made the on-screen representation of the main idea sluggish. The cinematography is passable and doesn’t contribute much to the film. Music of Desi Mohan is a plus point of this movie and songs such as ‘’Hatthurina Deepa’’ sang by Oscar winner MM Keeravani add value to the movie. The soulful and emotion-heavy presentation of the relationship between a grandfather and a grandson is the movie’s heart.

Verdict
Through the ‘Rangasamudra’ movie, the director tried to highlight the importance of ideals like humanity and morality. Still, with a poorly written screenplay, it feels hardly impactful. It also successfully presented the rich heritage of rural parts of the country. Though the movie falters in representing an influential screenplay, it is a one-time watch because of its emotional depth and its efforts to raise awareness about the importance of education and ideals.
