Analysis
‘Mandya Haida’ is not anything out of the blue. The basic plotline is just what you would expect from any other regular Indian commercial film.
So, what makes ‘Mandya Haida’ different? The ambiance in which the film is set. The film pays tribute to the spirit of the Mandya region. The action choreography is decent, though in some places we get the feeling of a parody film more, rather than a serious feature film being shown.
The film starts well, but in terms of emotional sequences, it doesn’t exactly hit the bullseye. Some of the sequences feel unintentionally funny when it should have been the other way around.
The writing is also not very legendary. Despite having potential, the screenplay just doesn’t take off. Writer cum director V Shrikanth has just made another commercial potboiler, which is neither whistle worthy nor even appealing in terms of action. Even the protagonists look unimpressive in many scenes. This is certainly not something to feel proud about.
However, in terms of capturing the essence of Mandya, both director V Shrikanth and cinematographer Manu Gowda can pat their backs for it. If nothing else, they have made the film visually appealing. On the other hand, the supporting cast have done a fair job as well

Verdict
‘Mandya Haida’ offers nothing new in terms of content. However, the visuals, as well as the performances of some of the supporting cast, salvage this film. If you’re a fan of mindless action potboilers, you can go for this one!
