Manasu Mallige has generated lot of buzz due to the fact that it is the remake of the Marathi flick, Sairat, directed by Nagaraj Manjuley. Sairat become biggest blockbusters in the Marathi film industry last year. It was not only critically acclaimed but also set the cash registers ringing. Now let’s see how Manasu Mallige has turned out to be.


Parshu, who belongs to a poor family, in in love with a rich girl named Sanju. Sanju is the daughter of a politician. The two of them fall for each other and eventually teenage romance blossoms. What happens later? Do both of them join together, after all the opposition? Watch the movie to know,

Star Performances

Debutante Nishanth has a good screen presence and he has essayed his naïve role well. Rinku Rajguru, who reprises the role played by her in the Marathi version, has dubbed for herself in Manasu Mallige. She has delivered a good performance in the Kannada film. In fact, she was appreciated a lot for her performance in the Marathi film too.


The remake film which is directed by S Narayan, is loyal to the original plot. It is also similar to the flick Cheluvina Chittara to a great extent. It has a contemporary plot and talks about the burning issues of today such as intercaste marriage.

What’s there?

• The pace of the flick gains momentum in the second half.

• The plot of the movie is powerful and this works Inspite of lack of item songs, comedy element etc.

• Ajay-Atul’s music is commendable.

What’s not there?

• Manasu Mallige may not strike the chord with those who have seen Sairat or similar films.

• More care could have been taken in terms of production work.
