Plot
The story of the movie “Shab” revolves around four individuals who are heartbroken and are looking for a real connection and love that could bring happiness into their lives, but like most people, they search for happiness in the wrong places.
Mohan, who is a small-town struggling model, feels that he would find love in the arms of the wealthy fashionista Sonal Modi, while Chef Neil thinks he would find love in the arms of his straight boyfriend, who uses him for his bank account and emotionally treats him as a doormat. Then there is Raina, who has a mysterious past and is working as a waitress to run away from her past and also to support her sister. And then there is Raina’s French neighbour Benoit, who is running away from his own past in France and finds solace in teaching young kids from his apartment.
Analysis
In the story, we see extramarital affairs, loneliness, homosexual relationships, and the dark reality of life. While the story looks promising, the execution fails to impress. It is a mature film about human relationships and journeys, but the execution of this movie is so poor that it feels confusing. You would almost need a flowchart to keep track of the many things and emotions going on in the movie.
Star Performance
This was Raveena Tandon’s third film of the year. Although her character was strong and her acting skills were undeniable, she still didn’t stand out. There were certain scenes when it felt like Raveena Tandon truly excelled on screen, but overall, her performance was not as remarkable as she usually is. The chemistry between

, Areesz Ganddi, and Simon Fernay was quite impactful, but as individual actors, they didn’t make much of an impact. While Ashish Bisht did look like a typical struggling small-town model, his character was limited to that.

I feel the concept behind the movie was beautiful, but the execution was not up to the mark. The acting also didn’t have a very positive impact, so it’s an average movie. You can watch it if you like the concept behind it.
