'Saas Bahu aur Sensex, a name which is unique in itself. One must have thought that this movie has something related with the Stock Exchange Market. Some people will think that it’s a typical saas-bahu drama with some twist. Well, this movie has both, and how sensex enters into the saas-bahu’s life, which makes it interesting.

PLOT:

Nitya Sen (Tanushree Datta) along with her mother Binita Sen (Kiran Kher) relocate to Mumbai from Kolkata after her mother divorced. Her mother befriends the society ladies through a kitty-party group. Binita gets hired as a teacher and Nitya finds a job in a call center. Binita believes that her daughter is angry with her, because Nitya wants to go to the US for further studies, but that’s not the case. She also believes that this was their best alternative to find their own place.

Binita remembers that her father left some shares and she started tracing her father’s old stock broking house to measure and figure out the stock market reality. During this, she meets Firoz Sethna (Farooq Shiekh), an ethical and cranky stock broker who guides her properly through the stock process. Meantime, the kitty party group doesn’t see Binita, so they start thinking that Binita is divorced and up to something dubious. But later, they get to know that she is busy with the stock market.

Nitya gets bored one day in the call center, because she is not getting any calls. She went to drink some water, and suddenly gets the news that the CEO of two companies are visiting. She accidentally drops her cup to listen to the conversation. Nitya tells everything to Binita, including the fact that their children are getting married. Binita tells everyone to invest in their company, because the stock will be high due to marriage.

A guy called Ritesh is a good friend of Nitya and he’s getting married to Kirti (Mausmeh Makhija). Though Nitya has a soft corner for Ritesh, she never tells him this information. When the wedding day arrives, Kirti is caught running. The reason she gave is that she wants to marry a rich guy; she wants to marry Yash Modi. Everyone gets saddened, because they all invested their money in his company, but after some time some foreign investors decides to invest in the company, which raise the sensex from 8000 to 30000 in a few days.

Nitya’s mom, Binita, finally tells her the reason why she moved to Mumbai. Nitya’s father left her mom for a younger woman, and Binita didn’t want Nitya to take stress or become pressurized because of this thing.

ANALYSIS:

This movie portrays the life of an independent woman. Even shows the positive approach towards the life of a single parent and lady. What is bothering in the movie is that it is a bit slow. It could have done better if they had presented everything in a concise manner. Director unravels the situations perfectly. No denying the fact that this movie is engaging in most.

STAR PERFORMANCES:

Kirron Kher proved that she is experienced and a very good actress. Tanushree Dutta also did a fine job. It’s a pleasure to watch Farouque Shiekh after a hiatus. He performed incredibly. Mausim gets to perform in the second part and she is looking sexy.

WHAT'S THERE?

Director Shona’s execution of the material is refined. Movie has decent music and the best part is every song is around one minute. As the topic itself does not give space to songs for more than one minute.

WHAT'S NOT THERE?

Reality of Stock Exchange Market is not defined universally. There are few parts, which are not appealing.

VERDICT:

In short, the movie is interesting, and has drama but is lengthy according to the content available in the movie.
