There have been a plethora of animated films of late, and Disney's Zootopia is one such film. But you have got to read the review to know how Zootopia is different from other animated films.
Plot
Zootopia is basically a crime story. Judy Hopps, the rabbit, right from her childhood, has a knack for dealing with conflicts, even if it is with a fox. She has a lot of belief in her caliber, even though she is a “small” creature compared to the lions and rhinos. And this rustic girl heads all the way to the urban area, and enrolls herself in the Police Academy. Later she has to brave the odds, given that she has to outwit her big foes. But surely she wants to be heralded as the topnotch cop!
Fourteen animals suddenly go absent in Zootopia (a urban jungle) and the protagonist, Judy Hopps, manage to identify one of the missing animals. She has the help of Nick Wilde, a cynic fox of forty plus, for handling this case. But poor little girl! She ends up landing in a conniving plot. Is the plot too difficult to handle for her? The movie has drawn inspiration from Chinatown and has similarities with some other movies too. But what makes this film work is the meticulousness of the directors

The movie has similarities to other movies, but that can be forgiven given that the treatment is novel. You have to watch it to experience it.
Verdict
You cannot definitely discard Zootopia as a mediocre film. Watch it for its superb execution.
