Plot

A LEGO Brickumentary, as its name implies, is a family-friendly film about the Lego toy and its impact on the world. The film shows how the Lego company came into being, and how it started with a humble wood carver in Denmark. The film also introduces watchers to the Lego community called ‘Adult Fan of Lego’ and shows how all kinds of people have grown fond of the Lego toy, not just children but adults too. The Lego toy has also inspired creations by people, including people who are filmmakers, psychologists, architects, engineers, and so on. The film shows the different ways in which Lego toys have been used, for instance, two guys in Australia used only Lego toys to build a fully functional car. People like doctors and psychiatrists have also benefited from using Lego toys as fun tools to treat their patients, such as this particular therapist who uses Lego toys to treat children with autism.

Star Performance

Jason Bateman who is a voice actor for one of the Lego characters performed very well.

Jamie Berard’s acting was also unforgettable and convincing.

Analysis

The narration in the film is very engaging. The visuals are great. The film is incredibly creative, but the jokes are bland. One would think that a film about a toy would be boring, but this one has been created in such a way that it became delightful to watch. The informative part of the movie keeps us hooked and fascinated, and the stories of people using Lego Toys to heal the world is genuinely moving.

What’s There?

  • The movie has moving stories of how Lego toys have helped people
  • Fascinating stories of creations that are inspired by Lego toys

What’s Not There?

  • It does come off as a bit promotional

Verdict

Even if you are not a diehard fan of Lego toys or barely have any knowledge of the toy, this movie will still be an enjoyable watch.
