We often find ourselves questioning whether we are on the right rack in our lives. Passing out high school students are confused about what they want to pursue next, college graduates are worried if they will ever fit in anywhere. ' Wish I Was Here Click to look into! >> Read More... ' is a movie about a man who is similarly clueless about what his life really means, but he is now a 35 year old unemployed actor and a harassed father of two kids.
Aidan Bloom is at a very uneasy stage in his life where everything seems to be slowly slipping away. His father is taken ill and he cannot afford the fees of the private school his two children, Grace and Tucker were attending. His wife, Sarah is the only earning member of the family who has to tolerate some unfavorable situations at her workplace just so that she can keep her job. When Grace and Tucker are pulled out of the school because Aidan’s father, Gabe, now needs the money for his cancer treatment, Aidan decides to home-school them. Somewhere in between teaching them about life and its nuances and sharing his knowledge of the world, Aidan begins to understand who he really is deep inside and what he is meant to be.
Through the honest and real performances by Zach Braff and Joey King, they managed to bring to life a beautiful father-daughter relationship. Aidan wants her Grace to fearlessly be whoever she wants to be from the bottom of her heart, even though he himself hasn’t able to figure it out yet. There are also some very powerful and emotional scenes like the one where Sarah ( Kate Hudson Kate Hudson is an American actress who is the daug >> Read More... ) visits Gabe ( Mandy Patinkin Mandy Patinkin was born in Chicagoon November 30, >> Read More... ) in the hospital and tell him about what his sons really need from him and what he should do. The movie also has some very teary and some cheery scenes that just float away, reminding us of all the soft and delicate moments in our lives.
The satisfying performances of all the actors accompanied with the beautiful sound-track of the movie make for a very sincere and easy-flowing watch. The movie does not have many rib-tickling comic one-liners, it is more about the kind of words and dialogues people really say and talk about. It is one of those pleasant movies that teach us that the precious moments that seem pointless at the time are actually what make our lives worth living.
To this beautiful movie that tells us the truth about accepting whatever life dishes out and how to be able to be at peace with it, I give this movie, 3 out of 5 popcorn tubs.
