This movie is all about the trio of 20-something guys who are a little too commitment phobic but are forced to step back and think about what they really want in life as they are confronted with some truly awkward moments.
The movie starts with Jason (Efron) getting dumped by his girlfriend and Mikey’s (Jordan) wife asking him for a divorce, who is welcomed with open arms by the forever-single Daniel (Teller) into a commitment-proof life. After contemplating about why women usually start expecting a serious relationship after a few casual hook-ups, these three best friends make a pact to never get into a relationship ever again.
However, when Jason meets Ellie and can’t help but fall for her, and Daniel comes to realize that his friend turned lover, Chelsea might be the girl of his dreams, we also find Mikey trying to woo his wife his back. Things turn awkward between the friends as they confusingly try to keep their love-lives hidden from each other and figure out whether their pact of single-hood is really worth it or not.
The star actors in the movie have helped raise the quotient of it a lot. However, many would argue whether the movie was really what these rising stars really should have signed up for. It is definitely a raunchy comedy with the demonstration of many hilariously stupid decisions and its aftermath that follows. It is a laid-back and easy watch even as the audience would wonder at times about how book-jacket designers Daniel and Jason are able to afford the kind of house they live in, or why Mikey is trying so hard to win back his wife who cheated on him and the biggest shocks of all is why these young men would need the help of Viagra at this kind of a stage in life.
As some weird questions may pop in your mind, they can easily be sent to the back as these guys bowl you over with their amazing performances. They have all definitely made the movie a very fun watch of actually awkward moments, even though it seemed to have been promising a lot more.
To this easy-breezy watch of comical errors and evaluations of all the commitments against commitment that the three men take, I give The Awkward Moment, 3 out of 5 popcorn tubs.
