Plot

Joseph Castleman and Joan are married for forty years and they have two children. Joseph is selected to receive the Nobel Prize in the literature category. While traveling to receive the award in Stockholm, Joan thinks about her past and how she fell in love with Joseph, a literature professor. Nathanial Bone wants to write the biography of Joseph and he collects information about the professor from his wife. At that time, she says about the things she had sacrificed to tie the knot with Joseph.

Star Performance

It’s a great work by Glenn Close. Her expressions and body language are beautiful. Jonathan had done his part well too.

Analysis

Bjorn Runge should definitely be appreciated for his excellent execution. He had brought a fantastic cast and make them emote well to the situation that would make the audience go sentimental. The screenplay by Jane is excellent and it concentrates mainly on the feelings of the woman. The main theme behind the film is that behind a successful man, there lies the sacrifice of a woman. The production and technical values are great.

What’s There?

  • Glen’s performance is at the top
  • The script and screenplay are impressive
  • Execution is perfect

What’s Not There?

  • Only the female’s heart is concentrated

Verdict

With the perfect script, screenplay, narration and the performance of Glenn, the film makes us feel good. While coming out of the theaters, your heart would feel hard, as Glenn’s performance would make you feel for her role.
