Plot

“The Death Of Superman” is a 2018 animated adaptation of the Superman comic of the same name. The film begins as Superman saves the mayor of Metropolis from being abducted and Lois Lane interviews Superman for his feat. Later that day, Lois Lane meets Clark Kent’s adoptive parents and is disheartened by how little she knows about Clark and tells him she needs some time to process their relationship. Meanwhile, in space, Hank Henshaw, his wife and their crew is on a mission but are hit by a meteorite. When the meteorite crashes on Earth, the crew Lex Luthor sent to investigate it are killed by a giant being in a containment suit. This being goes on a rampage across Metropolis. At the same time, Clark Kent meets up with Lois Lane and tells her that he is Superman and that he is in love with her. Star Performance

The cast consists of seasoned actors who have been a part of the D.C. universe since the previous ten films. So, they are perfectly immersed in their characters in this film as well and voice their respective characters perfectly.

Analysis

Although “The Death Of Superman” is a good movie, the storyline is repetitive since the same has been shown before in 2007’s “Superman: Doomsday” and in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice”.

• The film also features classic characters such as Dr. Silas Stone, Dr. John Irons, Hank Henshaw, Intergang, Lex Luthor, and Bibbo Bibbowski.

What’s Not There?

• The film’s storyline is repetitive because it is the third movie in the D.C. universe based on the same comic.
• In the film, Superman’s and Lois Lane’s relationship is quite slow-paced as Clark Kent tells Lois that he is Superman just a few hours before he dies

Verdict

“The Death Of Superman” tells the same story as its predecessors “Superman: Doomsday” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” without much addition or modification. The film does not focus on Doomsday and just limits him to be a one-dimensional antagonist who was introduced to fight Superman and then killed off. The film does not have any elements which would justify this retelling of the same old story. The film might be a good watch for D.C. fans.
