Plot :
Based on the bestselling novel, which inspired not only a sequel but also a children’s adaptation. The film revolves around an international drug dealer who takes on a step ahead to be friends with a vicious man to save his marriage, which was a power struggle, to his wife. She guides the three of them on a journey they’ll never forget.
Analysis :
The director pushes the genre closer to art in this film. Same Kind of Different Me gives a well-built reason as of why the three characters Ron, Debbie and Denver would be unusual as friends which becomes the center of percussion when Denver is shown hanging out with them.
Star Performance :
The three lead characters have six Academy Award nominations between them. Actor Djimon Hounson, can adapt to any role given to him. From playing a highly energetic hinter in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ to his latest role in ‘Same Kind of Different Me’ as heartfelt and intense. Rene Zellweger finds this story to be very important and special to tell, as she enjoyed playing the character of Debbie who is really kind and friendly. Rene Zellweger brings elegance in this faith-based story.
What’s there?
1. The films’ central focus is the bestseller that has inspired it.
2. It feels relatively tame compared to other religious movies, as all other movies just emphasize that Heaven is for real and God’s everywhere.
3. Director Michael Carney, making his feature debut working on a script he co-wrote with Ron Hall has turned into a movie with such a meaningful message.
What’s not there?
1. Same Kind of Different as Me” is a strange, sincere and sometimes clumsy for old-fashioned Christian empathy
2. Still, the movie is less inspiring than the messages in it.
Verdict :
It’s a feel-good movie. This heartfelt story makes us believe in the fact that whatever the differences and difficulties may be love always finds its way to comfort us. The characters are very amiable if you haven’t watched the movie yet, it’s a pleasant film to spend your time.
