Plot
The film protagonists are celebrity chef Erasmus, played by Steve Coogan, and his producer and partner Paul, played by Paul Rudd. They are surprised by the arrival of Erasmus’ grand-son Bill, played by Jack Gore. Bill has been abandoned by Erasmus’ estranged son. The couple has a rocky relationship, and Paul is frustrated with Erasmus’ lavish lifestyle and excessive alcohol consumption, which leaves Paul with the task of caring for Bill, who is angry and sad about being abandoned by his father. The film follows the couple’s story as they try to maintain their strained relationship while caring for Bill.
Star Performance
Although Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd are hilarious in their characters, the film fails to take full advantage of their top-tier acting skills with its crude and uninspired jokes.
Analysis
The film could have been a wonderful comedy about a gay couple’s life and its upheaval by the addition of a new member. But, instead of making the film about a generic gay couple and the problems they face in everyday life, Andrew Fleming made it about a well-off and lavish couple facing turmoil in their relationship and attempts to display even their rickety relationship as an element that adds to the humor in the film.

“Ideal Home” is a beautiful film about how a gay couple, who is facing problems in their relationship, finds happiness in their relationship while taking care of a child. The struggle of the couple, as well as the inner turmoil an abandoned child faces, is portrayed well. So, “Ideal Home” is the perfect film for dramatic comedy fans.
