Plot-

Jones) want to regain the spark in their marriage. They used to sleep in separate rooms since their younger child went off to the college. One day, Kay tells Arnold that she has paid for them to undergo a week of intense counseling of marriage.

In the session with Dr. Feld, they reveal details about their relationship with each other, their feeling and emotions. They talk about the spark that caused them to originally fall in love with each other. Dr. Feld asks several questions frankly about their sexual life and desires.

Arnold does not want to look into the depth of the disappointment of his wife. When they come back, they spend the night in the same bed. They make few efforts to get closer, but end up with a disastrous result.

Arnold arranges a romantic dinner date and a night at the Luxury Inn for Kay, where they again attempt to make love, but failed.

In the final session with Dr. Feld, the doctor tells them it’s now time for them to try couple therapy at home. Back at home, old habits resume. Arnold enters in Kay’s bedroom, the lovemaking that follows that night is warm, natural, and everything seems perfect.

On the next day, their marriage is in a new place. They make promises to be more understanding and considerate of each other.

Analysis-

A unique plot with a marital dead end is the beginning of the movie. This film is directed with maturity, and has a well-written plot.

Star performance-

Meryl Streep, as a 63-year-old woman, delivers the most sexual performance. Her character gave her a lot to express regarding acting. Tommy Lee has also done a fair job.

What’s there-

This film has humor in form of sexual illumination. The film also has sweet moments, and everyone can relate to them.

What’s not there-

The Dr. Feld therapy session could have been more humorous.

Verdict-

Well, it’s a must watch movie, so that everyone can get the message of putting in the effort for the person you love and make the relationship healthy.
