Plot

New York Click to look into! >> Read More... expatriates Nick and Amy Dunne ( Ben Affleck From man-of-steel “Superman in Hollywoodland” to “ >> Read More... and Rosamund Pike She’s known to be magnificent in portraying differ >> Read More... ) live in the quiet suburbs of Missouri – someplace that they never really expected to see themselves. One day, Nick comes back from work to find his house broken into and his wife missing. After leading an investigation upon her disappearance, due to the sheer lack of evidence and Nick’s infuriatingly stoic face and personality, Nick is convicted and charged with the murder of his wife. The movie of Gone Girl is a long and thrilling journey of Nick’s journey of pleading defense against the charge and his determination to get Amy back. What one forgets to factor into the equation, is Amy Dunne herself, who plays an integral role in the story. Gone Girl will surely keep you hooked to your seats because of its stunning plot and fabulous performances by all its actors – protagonists and supporting artists alike. How does Nick get back Amy? How does he prove his case? You’ll have to watch the movie for that.

Star Performances

Ben Affleck is known for his many Academy Awards and Golden Globe awards due to his ability to portray several different personalities at once. Rosamund Pike’s lack of awards holds no reflection of her true talent and bone-chilling ability to play Amy Dunne to a T. She deserves an Oscar for her sensational performance in acting like the infamous Amy Dunne while Ben Affleck succeeds in charming the ladies while still playing a desperate man solving court case against him.

Analysis

Gone Girl is fairly reminiscent of the director David Fincher David Fincher was born on 28th August 1962 and is >> Read More... ’s unique way of setting the story and giving cold hard truths in the most hard-hitting manner possible. Like the screenplay writer Gillian Flynn mentions, the movie is about storytelling, focusing on the importance how you say it over what you say; Gone Girl has a unique way of making you squirm in your seat. The movie is interspersed with high thrill chases, angst-ridden dialogues and horrifying material.

What’s there?

1.David Fincher does a spectacular job of anatomizing the Dunne’s marriage with the same meticulousness that he tackled his previous thrillers like ‘Flight Club’.
2.The different ending of the movie is equally thrilling as the original book’s ending.
3. Rosamund Pike’s character does a great job adding to the deep-seated darkness lurking underneath the movie’s central theme of a ‘perfect marriage.'
4.The visuals are almost picture perfect and beautifully shot by the reputed cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth.

What’s not there?

1. The first half of the movie fails to match the fast pace of the second half – the contrast between which leaves the audience feeling slight disconcerted.
2. The film’s – and book’s – structure is one that reveals everything a little too soon, which make the ending drag a bit and leaves the audience feeling exhausted by the end of the movie.

Verdict

If you want to watch a mystery drama that has you at the edge of your seat all throughout the movie, Gone Girl is the perfect movie for you.
