He meets Heinrich Himmler and is appointed head of SS counter-intelligence, working with Heinrich Müller to fight Communists in Weimar Germany. After Hitler is appointed Chancellor, Heydrich becomes Chief of the Gestapo.
After the German invasion of Poland and World War II breaks out, Heydrich is promoted to Chief of the Reich Security Main Office. His Einsatzgruppen mobile death squads follow the German Army, committing genocide across Eastern Europe. He blackmails General Eduard Wagner into sending the Einsatzgruppen information to allow them to exterminate Jews and other Untermenschen. As the movie progresses, Heydrich is appointed Acting Reich Protector of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, declaring that he will turn Prague into a "Jew-free" city. Later on, Heydrich chairs the Wannsee Conference to ensure there is a "Final Solution" for the genocide of Jews. On May 1942, Heydrich is attacked by Czech resistance fighters, gets severely injured and dies of the wounds later on
Star Performance
The star cast did an awesome job in the portrayal of the characters. Jason Clarke delivered acted on point delivering a chilling portrayal of Reinhard Heydrich, the main antagonist in the movie. He very well showed and captured the cold, villainised and calculating nature of the Nazi officer. Jack O'Connell and Jack Reynor both shine as Jan Kubiš and Jozef Gabčík, respectively. Their performances bring depth to the courageous Czech resistance fighters who very well planned and executed the assassination of Heydrich. They effectively convey the emotions of bravery, determination, and their own personal stakes involved in this dangerous mission. Rosamund Pike plays Lina Heydrich, Reinhard Heydrich's wife. Her character added the personal touch, showing that every villain is a human too. Her character was very effective in conveying the emotions and showing the other side of the antagonist of the movie. The other side characters from the officers to the actor portraying Hitler did and amazing job giving depth to this masterpiece.
