The movie ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules’ is a follow-up to the hit film ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’. The previous cast repeats their appearance in the sequel. The first flick has its plot revolving around the lack of confidence in Greg.Â
The sequel has a conflict of interests between Greg and brother Rodrick who aims to be a pop star.
Zachary Gordon
does Wimpy Greg Heffley in the movie. The movie opens up with Wimpy in the seventh grade. He is no more a child and wears a fierce look. Devon Bostick does Greg’s elder brother Rodrick. Rodrick wants to attune Wimpy such that he is prepared for the difficulties in life.
Their mother, done by Rachael Harris wants the boys to be closer.Â
Rodrick is a hard taskmaster, and that is how he chisels Wimpy into form. Many children would have read the novel Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Both the flicks have that luster which a movie needs the most. Characters in the film appear very real and extremist. Particularly, the character Fregley is so realistic and at the same time very different. Many school-goers would have brushed past such characters as Fregley.Â
The plot of the sequel seems to have been chiseled well. This makes it better than the original flick. In the sequel flick, there is a lot of maturity in Greg. He does nothing against his elder brother wantonly. As both the brothers grow out of their coldness to each other, sentiments unfold beautifully. There is subtle humor in the movie, which, of course, works out with kids.
For grownups, the film would seem unbefitting to be watched. If they have not had children yet, the flick may be boring. But the movie would arouse nostalgia in some adults who watch it. The movie is a perfect choice for school-going children.
