Conan the Barbarian is the interpretation of the Conan mythology. This periodic action drama is directed by Robert E. Howard. Nu Image Films, Millannium Films, and Paradox Entertainments produced the film.

The story starts with a war scene where a child is born, and her mother says that he must be named Canon ( Jason Momoa). Canon is the son of the chief of Barbarian tribe. Canon was interested in the fights and swords; his father always wants that he should take an interest in this. After few days, his tribe was attacked by Khalar Zym ( Stephen Lang), he kidnaps Canon’s father and kills him. This event makes Canon very violent, and he becomes eager to take his father’s revenge. And then he makes the plan to fight with Khalar Zym and his daughter ( Rose McGowan). And the rest is how he follows Khalar Zym and how he takes his revenge.

Star Performances

All the stars have the same job to do, they all have to scream, talk loudly, and fight madly. Jason Momoa built a great physique for the film, and he looks realistic in some of the fight scenes. Stephen Lang looks great as Zym, he did a bad guy job. Rachel Nichols also looked good in the film. All the other supporting characters performance is average.

The film is full of blood, revenge, sex, scream, fight, and swords. Except this, there is nothing in the film. This film is not related in any way to previous Conan starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Director completely fails in narrating the story. Lots of VFX used in the film for every fight scene.

What’s there?

1. The action of the film is good, it looks nice on Jason Momoa.
2. VFX used in the film is appreciable. It makes all the fight scenes realistic especially in the climax scene.

What’s not there?

1. Very confused direction, loose screenplay, and improper story.
2. The film is very lengthy, most of the scenes are not required in the second half.
3. Except violence, there is nothing new in it.

It is a very bad adaptation of Canon mythology. If you like to watch the action, blood, sword fight then you can watch the film.
