Plot
The movie starts with a family man Joe Brave who owns a logging company. Linden, his father, has dementia and gets into a heated fight in a bar that ends up with him in a mountain cabin. Weston and Hallet, Brave’s co-workers, deceive Brave and run a drug trafficking racket under his nose. The head of the racket, Kassen, the drug lord, surrounds the drug closet to get hidden drugs, which leads to a bloody feud between Brave and Kassen. The movie revolves around this and is a survival tale of Brave and his family.
Star Performances
Jason Momoa as Joe Braven, has given an incredible performance as the main protagonist. He has perfectly played the role of a brave hero determined to save his family from danger.
Garret Dillahunt as Kassen, has been exceptional as the boss of the drug trafficking business.
Both of them fit perfectly against each other.Stephen Lang, Jill Wagner and Sasha Rossof have given top-notch staging to their respective roles. All characters fit perfectly with each other and add depth and texture to the story and theme.
Analysis
The movie has a typical storyline that isn't enough to keep the audience hooked. But ‘Braven’ is still a worthwhile watch because of its actors and excellent screenplay. The movie seems unnecessarily stretched at times, but may still be impressive because of its tremendous fight action scenes. The action sequences are not outlandish but are well crafted.
The movie may also disappoint the audience looking for a new and unique script.
What's There?
•Terrific action sequences that look vibrant on screen
•Exceptional action performance by Jason Momoa. Fans would love to watch him on screen with an absolutely engaging screenplay.
• There is excellent chemistry between the supporting actors.
What's Not There?
•Lack of character development at places, that make the movie drowsy.
• There is nothing unique in action sequences, as the story feels like a typical tale of good against evil.
Verdict
The movie is undoubtedly a one-time watch as there is excellent acting and screenplay. The lead actors, Jason and Garret, have played their roles exceptionally well. The supporting cast invariably has ultimate bonding. The movie feels tired and repetitive at times, but still is a fair watch because of vivid framing and camera work. Momoa’s fans would love his typical action sequences. This movie is definitely a worthwhile watch.
