Shashwati Talukdar is a famous Indian academic filmmaker based in New York City. She was born in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. She was the youngest daughter of the three siblings to the esteemed S.N. Talukdar and Monica Talukdar. She graduated from Sri Ram College. She also attended Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi, where she graduated herself as a student of Mass Communication. She went abroad to Pennysylvania to study at the University of Philadelphia. She studied there the master’s degree course for Fine Arts in film ,and media arts. Then she went to teach at NYU, Arcadia University and Temple University. She commenced her career as an assistant editor for BBC’s television show Michael Moore Live.
She worked on several projects for BBC, HBO, Lifetime, Sundance ,and Cablevision. She is known for running the production company Four Nine and Half Pictures. She also maintains her blog, where she interacts with fans and other bloggers about multiple topics, including films, culture ,and various issues. Her filmography consists of twelve films belonging entirely to her.
