Shiva All Set For Re-release On This Date

Akkineni Nagarjuna’s classic is all set for a re-release.

On the occasion of his father Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s 102^nd birth anniversary, the actor announced that the gangster drama Siva will re-release on November 14. The movie marked the directorial debut of Ram Gopal Varma, who later became extremely famous for his neo noir drama movies like Rangeela, Satya, Daud, Company, Bhoot etc.

Following its huge success in Telugu, the movie was remade in Hindi, also starring Akkineni Nagarjuna and Amala Akkineni in the lead roles. Interestingly, this movie was also commercially successful, giving Ram Gopal Varma the much needed launch into the big league.

However, despite the success of this movie, Nagarjuna did not work as frequently in Bollywood as intended. He was last seen as Anish Shetty in the fantasy drama Brahmastra, which starred Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, and despite the PR, turned out to be a commercial dud at the box office.
